Her festival, Aphrodisia, was celebrated across Greece. Aphrodite was associated with, and often depicted with, the sea, dolphins, doves, swans, pomegranates, sceptres, apples, myrtle, rose trees, lime trees, clams, scallop shells, and pearls. She had many lovers, both gods and men.. Aphrodite possessed a magic girdle which had the power of inspiring love and desire for those who wore it. According to a greek myth Aphrodite’s parents were Zeus and Dione.
