Lindos
"A little gem on the island of Rhodes.
An island within an island."
This cosmopolitan town, with its famed ancient acropolis, is (figuratively and literally) the hottest place on Rhodes.
Arriving in Lindos, you have to park your car because these are forbidden on the island. The baton is taken by donkeys, bicycles and motorbikes.
At that point a magical cobbled square overlooking the bay of Lindos welcomes you.
You instantly feel the cosmopolitan aura of an era to surround you which in combination with Greek tradition, history & aesthetic lifestyle inspire you and make you fall in love with the island right away.
Swimming:
In Saint Paul’s beach and ideally we suggest on renting a pedal boat or small boat to discover the incredible blue waters and stunning rocks around the bay.
You will also have the opportunity to see the Ancient Acropolis of Lindos which is built on the rocks.
Food:
Dine at the wonderful small, picturesque Italian restaurant, named Broccolino. (Owned of course by Italians!)
At the colorful tables you will eat fresh creamy gnocchi, crispy pizza and various recipes of spaghetti.
Accommodation and food experience At Melenos Boutique Hotel.
Located in the most beautiful and amphitheatric part of the island, you will stay in a boutique hotel that will honestly take you to One Thousand and One Nights. Blending with the heritage village style, the hotel's white-washed and sandstone buildings containing the twelve suites and public areas, branch off a central stairway, giving the appearance of - a village within a village.
Each room embraces the tradition, taste and aesthetics of the island. It is worth eating in the award-winning restaurant and its wonderful terrace or drinking a cool aperitif like Mastic with strawberry Mojito at the colorful bar.
What to buy, leather sandals and jewelry are a must.
Dine Experience:
At Mavriko”s historical restaurant, (since 1912) you will eat excellent Local cuisine and award-winning dishes. With over half a century of history, Mavrikos is an excellent gastronomic proposal.
Lunch:
Great option after swimming: eat simply and freshly in the canteen of St. Paul”s bay. “Kalamarakia”, french fries and a choriatiki salad are very delicious.
Breakfast & Gelato:
Discover local ovens with freshly baked hot buns, cheese-pies, local biscuits, and goodies every morning. For the ice cream / desert lovers I definitely suggest GELO BLU, a gelateria with fantastic ice cream flavors and sweets.
Hope you enjoyed it and Lindos be your next trip to Greece!
